Saturday the 14th of April was another slow start before we all wandered into the town of Metung for coffees and to check out the weekly Saturday morning produce markets.
After stocking up on olives, cheeses and fudge, we all headed back to the Cheney's holiday house to get ready for an afternoon of Cruising the Lakes.
The kids all donned their wetsuits and jumped onto the biscuit, Nina looked to be petrified but every time we asked her if she wanted to come back on the boat she said no, insisting that she was having fun!

By about 2 o'clock we had reached the beautiful fishing town of Lakes Entrance...

The kids spent some time acquainting themselves with some of the locals...
Before we had fish and Chips for lunch on the foreshore...

We then walked across a bridge over the lake and we were on the beach, it was amazing!

We then cruised back to Metung, with the kids still in tow, on the biscuit.
When we arrived back at the house, Richard cooked dinner, after earlier visiting a fishmonger at Lakes Entrance.
It turned into a seafood feast... Octopus, fish and prawns.

Seafood galore |

Around the fire |
After dinner, the kids played monopoly while the adults sat around the fire shooting the breeze.
By about 1am, the boys were in fine form and decided to ride their pushbikes to the pub.

Megan and I saw it as a great escape, so we made a dash to our respective beds. The boys were back before long, the pub was well and truly closed, or closed when they saw them coming :-)
Either way it was a great night.
This morning, Sunday the 15th of April... I got up early and went to the laundromat, holiday or not, the daily chores are relentless.
Everyone was packing up when I got back to the house.
Shayne's parents stopped in for a visit before a quick lunch and then the Cheney family were off back to Traralgon for a week of school and work.
This afternoon, we chilled out and felt a bit lost without our mates... We wandered into the Metung pub to see if the footy was on, but alas, we are in Victoria and an Eagles - GWS game simply doesn't take priority.

Chilling out at the Metung pub |
So we wandered back to the house for an afternoon snooze before an early dinner at the Metung pub and an early night.
Tomorrow we head towards Echuca where we meet Dad (Phillip) my brother Leon and my two nephews Phillip & Ale for a week cruising the Murray River on a houseboat.
Life is good and I feel blessed for such wonderful experiences on a daily basis, our thanks to the Cheney's for a wonderful weekend and for their amazing hospitality.... we had such a good time, we're heading back to Metung after we cruise the Murray.
Two things my friends...
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love the seeing all the various people who frequent laundromats?...
And, whilst in Vic you simply MUST try steamed domains with soy sauce....I miss those things, can' only buy them fried over here
Enjoy Victoria, it's a great state xxx
DIMSIM's not domains....iPad auto correct account again....! Xx
ReplyDeleteHey V,
ReplyDeleteI tried them on Saturday at Lakes Entrance. I didn't mind them but Richard wasn't a fan.
As for laundromats... I never thought I'd say this, but I miss my laundry.
I hope you are all well.
Love Sonia x
I remember that fish & chip shop at Lakes it's the best and totally agree with V about the steamed dim sims although fried fixes a hangover much better. Off to the great Murray now and shit loads of water should be a hoot xxx
