Yesterday, Monday the 7th of May, was a relatively quiet one. The kids got stuck into their school work with Jack and Harry each doing a Naplan Test. Both did well, much to my relief, and Jack did exceptionally well considering he did a year 5 Test.
By late afternoon we decided to leave the caravan park in Merimbula and create some healthy family rivalry, with a game of Ten Pin Bowling.

I am not proud of it, but at the risk of omitting this information for fear of being called a bad loser, I have to admit that I was beaten by my 9 year old son. I am hoping he can forget it quickly and move on:-)

The score sheet - ok, time to move on! |
After bowling, we had dinner at a little Italian Restaurant where the subject of politics came up... Richard decided to use football as an analogy... Needless to say the conversation was hilarious.
It went something like this....
Labor = The Dockers, Liberal = The Eagles, the Greens = Melbourne, Wayne Swan = Hayden Ballantine.
I was in stitches and by the end of it all, the kids felt they understood Australian politics - funny but sad in that there's probably not a lot more to it.
This morning, Tuesday the 8th of May, we went for a morning walk around Merimbula in the sunshine, before the kids got into some more school work while Richard did some work. We then went for a drive, with the fishing town of Bermagui our destination. We stopped along the way at Tathra and the old wharf, where lots of people were fishing off an old jetty...

We arrived in Bermagui by lunchtime and drove around the popular fishing town, finding a gorgeous pool on the edge of the ocean, called Blue Pool. We would have settled in there for the afternoon if the temperature was 10 degrees warmer.

Bermagui is the closest mainland point to the continental shelf, making it a fishing Mecca. It's also where the warm currents flow, bringing with it the big game fish like black marlin and yellow fin tuna, which is why it was such a drawcard for Richard.

Waiting for lunch |
After a seafood lunch in Bermagui, we drove back to Merimbula via the pretty town of Cobargo and back through the cheese making town of Bega, before arriving back at the caravan park by late afternoon.
After a big lunch it was a light dinner, cooked by Jack - before an early night....
