Bye Branson's & Tin Can Bay, Qld

After another late night with the Branson's it was a slow start yesterday morning, Thursday the 9th of August, getting packed up and on our way.
Mike and Jan were also leaving and heading south to the Gold Coast to catch up with family, they have a son and a grand daughter on the Coast.
Before we left - we booked a campsite side by side at the Gympie Muster, which is 4 days of back to back country music performers with Kenny Rodgers the headline act.
So it wasn't such a sad and final goodbye, knowing we would be catching up with them again in a couple of weeks....

It's amazing how you can meet people and spend only a few nights together but feel like you have known them all their lives. We laughed looking at the back of their van on the way out. Jan was originally not happy about caravanning, so Mike put the sign "Not Happy Jan"...on the back of the van. 3 years on she now enjoys it... hence why the NOT has been crossed out.

We left Noosa, via BCF because Richard had ordered a fish finder for the tinny. It also means he plans to get serious about catching some fish, fingers crossed the boys can pull in some big ones over the coming weeks.
Along the way to Tin Can Bay we also called in at a ProMax shop so Richard could look at the new versions of our red beast... boy are they big vehicles. Certainly not something I could take shopping - unless I was planning to max out the credit card :-)
We arrived in Tin Can Bay around 2ish and set up camp in the Kingfisher Caravan Park, it really should be called the Sardine caravan park... our neighbours... Len & Bev, a lovely couple from Victoria, feel like they are living right on top of us.

We went for a drive and then settled in for an early dinner and an early night.
This morning, Friday the 10th of August, we were planning to get up early (around 6:30) and watch the dolphins come in off the bay to feed - but the wind was howling and it was freezing, so we rolled over and snuggled for a while longer.
The kids then did some schoolwork while Richard went to do some work at a nearby cafe.
This afternoon, we took a trip to Rainbow Beach, which is south, but around the Bay to where we will be catching a barge tomorrow to Fraser Island.
It was funny but frightening to see these signs, the croc sign is a sign of things to come, I have't quite got my head around that one yet. The dingo's I can handle!!
Fraser Island - here we come.

Not so confident about this one

The boys aren't so sure either
We watched as the barge set off, about a kilometre across the ocean to Fraser Island, looking forward to our trip tomorrow (Saturday) for the weekend.

A picnic on the beach

We then stopped on the beach for a picnic lunch before heading back to the caravan park in Tin Can Bay. We arrived back and began packing our clothes for our weekend away before settling in with a glass of red, to watch the Eagles V Geelong. (fingers & toes crossed)
