Tiger Terror

Our first evening in Starvation Bay ended around a campfire with an impromptu party.

Jack cooked sausages for everyone on the campfire (a job well done) while we chatted to the crazy cycling pom and another neighbour. Jean Mark (aka crazy pom) left today - but I wouldn't be suprised if we see him once again somewhere down the beaten track.

This morning was a slow start, but it wasn't long before our hearts were all racing. Nina went out to go to the toilet and by the sound of her screams we all thought that she'd been hurt, but she had seen a tiger snake, and worse, it was going into the ladies toilet where Harry was. Harry's reaction (bless him) was to climb up on the toilet seat, very quick I thought. Richard grabbed his new shovel and went to work in search of the snake, I think the snake was just as startled by all the commotion because he ended up escaping from the toilets through a pipe. Richard was waiting on the other end to try out his new shovel and needless to say, there is one less tiger snake in the world.

Dead tiger snake = good tiger snake

After all that excitement it was time for school, then a swim on the beach along with our daily exercises. Although each step is being taken with a little more trepidation today, the tiger snake rattled us all.
