Another week... our last full one in Bali, has come to an end so quickly.
The kids have been kept busy for the week, loving their soccer and gym camps at the Canggu Club.
Wednesday the 25th of July, after power plate... Richard and I dropped the kids off and headed towards Seminyak to drop off our friend Shelly - who was meeting up with some other friends and sharing a Villa with them in Seminyak.
Richard then left me and headed back to Canggu while I stayed to do some shopping along that Seminyak strip.
An afternoon alone in Seminyak to shop :-) - the mind boggles at what damage I could do to the credit card. Needless to say, I arrived home by the end of the day very happy with my purchases - although the thought of having to try to fit it all into a caravan when we arrived back in Australia kept me on the straight and narrow.
The kids and Richard all fared well in the shopping stakes as well.
Thursday the 26th, was a quiet one, my personal training session and then a massage and then it was time to pick the kids up, meeting them and some other friends - the Montgomerie's and the Quinn's - for a 3 o'clock cocktail, while the kids kicked the footy and swam in the pool.
It was a lovely afternoon with Nina getting to catch up with her little mate Gracie again....
A bowl of chips and a good mate - what more could a girl want? |
Nina shows off her gymnastics skills |
Everyone went their own way by around 6ish... Richard continued on with Mono - big surprise!!!
The kids and I went home and enjoyed a quiet home cooked dinner together - a rarity in Bali!
Waiting for a taxi at the Canggu Club |
I am not too sure what time everyone crawled up the stairs to bed, but it was sometime before the sun came up.
Friday the 27th... and I was off early to my power plate session and home to take the kids up to the Canggu Club for their last day of camp.
Richard, still a little under the weather - decided it would be nice to have a nanna nap, so that is what we did... life is tough, I agree!!!
We woke and headed to the Canggu Club early to have lunch and to watch the boys have their final soccer game.
Jack scored 5 goals and Harry defended at his usual best... their skill levels have certainly come a long way in the two week soccer camp.
Nina's teacher Miss Kate was full of compliments - saying she is such a beautiful girl - but I already knew that....

Gracie & Nina at Potato Head |
Gen, Nina & Richard at Potato Head |
Gen was keen to have a night out without any plans, so we pub hopped around Seminyak... first - of course - was The Champagne Bar, followed by Mamasan, then Mosaic, Cubana, Huu Bar and home.
It was quite an effort... and if anyone needs a Bali bar review, we are the people to call haha!!!
It was a great night and our last catch up with the Montgomerie's before they head back to Perth on Sunday.
We have all enjoyed each other's company and will miss them when they leave.
This morning the 28th of July... Huggy (Lee) made the call that we should walk along the beach with Kite (the new dog) and go to Laluciola for breakfast.
Huggy & Kite |
So, Kite was attached to a lead for the first time, his wasn't too impressed initially and was probably dragged a good few hundred metres before he worked out, it was easier to walk....
Harry walks Kite - or vice-versa |
We clapped and cheered each time he walked without being dragged - although the people along the beach thought we were mad - we were proud of our little Bali dog who was trying to buck generations of freedom to be a good boy, and appease his new family.
By the time we reached Laluciola we were all ready for brekky.... but were almost sent packing by the security guard who told us that we couldn't tie our dog up nearby, and that Kite would have to go to the car park.
For Ron it was a non-issue... no dog, no family - but after sweet talking the management we were able to tie Kite up close by and within eye shot.... the fact that he cried the whole time we were there, made us feel terrible for the other restaurant patrons and vindicated the restaurant policy, which we had tried so hard to buck.
Anyway, the kids managed to quell Kite long enough to be able to eat before we left to head back to the Villa.
The kids walked home with Ron, Lee & Kite to the Villa while Richard and I drove back on the scooter. We called in, along the way, to see Tony Saddler (from Perth) and his Villa - which was beautiful - before we made it back to Ron & Lee's Villa.
A quick change and I was on the way to meet Gibbo at the Champagne Bar.
Gibbo and I have known of each other for many years (through the media and through a mutual friend) but have never (not through a want of trying) managed to catch up... so finally..... we caught up at the Champagne Bar in Bali... of all places!!!
It was great to chat and get to know each other, plus catch up on what was happening back home.
Unfortunately, Gibbo had to catch a plane home tonight, so eventually (although leaving it to the very last minute) he had to call it quits and head back to his hotel to pack his bags.
Gibbo, so great to finally catch up....
Gibbo & I finally catch up, Champagne Bar - Bali |
Richard managed to get there at the end of our catch up session, horrified that his horse had lost and so had the AFL team he'd backed.
After Gibbo left - we had another couple of drinks together, before slowly heading back to the Villa, via a few pubs and the local Italian restaurant to pick up some take-away.
By the time we got back everyone was ready for bed... so after dinner here I am... alone - writing the blog before promising to tuck the kids in and kiss them goodnight on the way to bed.
Tomorrow will mean only four days left... and after two months here - not one part of me is ready to leave.
