Stunning Woodgate, Qld

We were up bright and early yesterday morning Monday the 20th of August, packing up camp in 1770 to backtrack south towards a place called Woodgate.
We called in at the local Post Office first. Aunty Lucy had sent a package for Jack's birthday and we were hoping it had arrived - but it was not to be.
The lovely lady in the Post Office promised to call when it arrived, so she could forward it on to the next destination.
On the road again, we arrived a couple of hours later in Bundaberg, stopping at the local shopping centre to do a shop, before continuing on our way.

We arrived in Woodgate around 2ish. It is among the most beautiful little beachside towns I have ever had the privilege of visiting.
If you can imagine picture perfect beaches with lapping waves and blue skies... you have arrived in Woodgate. The beach is protected by Fraser Island which is about 80 kilometres off the coast.
A few caravanning friends along the way had recommended we stay in Woodgate. I am so glad we took their advice.
After arriving and setting up in the caravan park, opposite the beach, we all took a bike ride to look for the town. It wasn't too long before we realised, we'd blinked while we were driving through - and seen it all.
The kids had a great time riding their bikes up and down the boat ramp, into the water...

We arrived back at the park in time to put dinner on before an early night. It was lovely to see how social the caravan park was. There were groups playing bingo in the camp kitchen and everyone was up and about. It was a rarity for us, most caravan parks are so quiet and private.

This morning, Tuesday the 21st of August, Richard and I were up early for a walk along the beautiful beach before it was time to get down to business.
The kids had school (updating their diaries) while Richard had some work to do.
Around midday we were all done and Richard took off with Jack into the nearest town, Childers, while Nina, Harry and I hung out in the caravan park, doing some chores, before heading to the beach.

Beautiful Woodgate

It was a stunning day and we made the most of it, with the kids playing checkers on the beach, while I read my book.
An hour or so later, Jack and Richard were back - and the kids continued to play footy on the beach.
We arrived back at the caravan in time for an afternoon drink and to see a sight... this studebaker pulling a caravan. Obviously a couple of pensioners in no hurry...
A rare sight!!

Tonight, we are chilling before packing up camp tomorrow to head to Gympie for 4 days of country music. I regret we haven't had longer here but we do have to save some things for next time:-) In the meantime,  I have dusted off my cowboy boots, ready for the Gympie muster.... yeeeehaaaaa!!!
