1770 Goodbyes, Qld

Saturday the 18th of August and the boys were up at the crack of dawn, ready to take on the high seas of 1770 once again for some more fishing.

The alarm went off at 6:30 and before long their fishing gear and lunchbox was packed and Richard, Andrew, Jack & Harry were on their way.
Tom (aged 6) decided to become the man of the house for the day, after a big day of fishing for him the day before.
Olivia and I emerged from our respective Cabins/caravans around 8ish and after getting the kids brekky decided we'd sit in the sun and read some trashy magazines.
After about half an hour and enough sandfly bites to make me look like I had the chickenpox, we decided we'd go for a drive and explore the area (All the kids had been hammered by sandflies as wel,l so we have been itching like there's no tomorrow).
We drove for a little while around 1770.... It's a pretty spot where the point overlooks the ocean on one side and the bay on the other.
We continued on into Agnes Water, a nearby town, where we happened upon a beachside cafe called Bustard's... we grabbed a take away coffee and then we spent an hour or so on the beach while the kids played in the sand.
It was a beautiful spot with a caravan park on the beach which would have been perfect, but it was fully booked. We took a mental note for next time.

We arrived home mid afternoon and  the kids had a play while I cleaned out the car. A well overdue job which I could put off no longer.
By around 4, the boys called saying they were not far and had a feed of mud crabs, we were all excited.
Dinner

We went for a final drink at the local tavern to watch the sunset while the kids found a way to get wet in the bay and pick up a few more sandfly bites...

...before we headed back to the caravan to eat like kings and queens... prawns for entree and singapore chilli mud crab for dinner.

This morning, Sunday the 19th, we were all up bright and early to pull the crab nets for the last time... the girls decided to go along for the last ride.
All aboard for an early morning ride to pull in the crab nets

We had picked the coldest morning, it was icy but beautiful...

...before long we had reached a river system which the boys had said was a creek system the day before. It's amazing how tidal the area is.

Six crab nets later and plenty of undersized crabs which went back home, except one - which is likely to become dinner in the next couple of nights.

We were back in 1770 by around 8:30, enough time for Andrew & Olivia to pack up their cabin, clean the boat and head out to brekky together before saying our goodbyes.
Before we left each other we called Lee (Huggy), so we could all sing her happy birthday....
The kids sing Happy Birthday to Huggy over the phone

And then the emotional goodbyes began, the cousins were't ready to say goodbye just yet...

Bye guys, travel safe.

Thanks Andrew, Liv, Tom & Lola for travelling all that way to be with us for a precious weekend... it was lots of fun.

After our goodbyes we all went back to the caravan to watch the Eagles beat Port Adelaide and have an afternoon rest.
By late afternoon, we ventured into 1770 to meet a friend of Ian & Carol's, who we had met in Bali.
Lee was lovely and we had a great afternoon, chatting and getting to know each other. We didn't get to meet her husband Peter, he was working away.
Lee & I
We were blown away by the lovely view of the Bay from her home, it was amazing.
We said our goodbye's to Lee around 6ish and headed back to the caravan for an early night.

Tomorrow, we pack up camp and backtrack to Woodgate for a couple of nights, before we head to the Gympie Muster, later in the week.
