Discovering Streaky Bay

We got a certain feeling driving into Streaky Bay yesterday, we knew instantly that we would love the place.
I don't know whether it was the clear glassy blue bay, the picturesque surroundings or our prime position in the caravan park on the banks of the Bay, but the whole combo had us feeling blessed to be here.
After arriving and setting up, it wasn't long before the boys had their gear on and the kayak inflated, ready to explore the glassy waters of the Bay.

And in no time at all their Daddy's "salesman blood" had kicked into action and the boys were collecting cockles in low tide, in the hope of selling them to their fellow caravan park neighbours for $5 a bag. A damn good bargain, they figured, after we'd just paid $10 a bag at the previous caravan park in Ceduna.
So, their first customer was none other than Richard.
He's now told half the caravan park about his cockles cooked in white wine, so he's under pressure to cook up a feast tonight.

Earlier, in our quest to try to kick this need of sleep ins, thanks to a combo of daylight saving and the 2 1/2 hour time difference, Richard and I went for a walk around the bay.
After the walk it was school time for the kids at the community library across the road.
Two hours went by quickly and after a text from Richard to say "fishing time," there was little hope of me getting the boys to concentrate any longer on boring old school work.
A quick lunch & the boys were off to test their luck.
The girls waved them goodbye, phone in hand, ready to call the nearest hairdresser to de feralise (a new word). So Nina experienced her first ever wash and blow dry, needless to say, she loved every minute of her pampering session, so did her mummy. :-)

Tonight, our neighbours, Graham and Coree (from Mandurah) and Jeoff and Maggie (from all over the place) came over to try Richard's cockles (they were very good) followed by slow cooked Ribs, everyone was impressed.
And then Jack, armed with his Bear Grylls flint, lit a campfire.
