Goodbye Adelaide

This morning, Tuesday the 28th of February,  was an ealy pack up and goodbye to Adelaide and our beautiful spot West Beach. I will miss my early morning walks along the beach to Glenelg but it was time to move on.

The morning didn't go exactly to plan... Richard has decided he is on a diet and would have some hard boiled eggs for brekky to kick start his metabolism for the morning (thanks Scotty). So he put some eggs in the microwave.
About 4 minutes into his 5 minute setting, the microwave door blew open with an almight explosion and there was egg from Adelaide to Perth (well ok then, slight eggs-ageration - from one side of the caravan to the other). After a few under my breath expletives I began (with Richard's help of course!!!) to clean up the mess.
Egg everywhere

Egg scraped up off floors, ceilings, walls and lounges... we hit the road... our first port of call was the dentist again for a final check up for both Nina and Harry...all good!!! So we can put all that behind us.

We then started heading towards Victor Harbour. Along the way we stopped in McLaren Vale which reminded me a lot of Margaret River, except more historic, with its old stone buildings lining the streets.

We stopped in Victor Harbour for lunch and then walked across the jetty to Granite Island, the home of a colony of fairy penguins. It was quite sad to hear the story of how the penguin colony has slowly disappeared over the past decade.... from 2000 in 2000 to about 100 now.

Here's a road sign you wouldn't see at home

Fairy Penguins. Very cute!!!

We then headed towards Wellington, where we had to drive onto a barge to cross the Murray River, the kids thought it was a great novelty.

Tonight, we have set up camp along the Limestone Coast in the Coorong National Park, alongside a lake.
It had a gorgeous view, much better than the view driving in - when we spotted a red bellied black snake... yikes!!!

  2. You can't tell the master chef anything Scotty. Thanks though for getting him back on the straight & narrow in the diet stakes.
