We've reached Ceduna

After a 9 hour drive yesterday we finally arrived in Ceduna late yesterday afternoon (Saturday). We left Eucla around 7:30am Perth time or 8:15am mid west zone or 10am South Australian time, all a bit confusing really.
A road sign in Eucla, so many options, but a long way from anywhere

Our first stop after leaving Eucla was the border town village, where the WA quarantine side was checking the ins and outs of every vehicle, but we drove straight through.... our initial reation was "slack SA's", but we copped their quarantine inspection on the way into Ceduna, some 6 hours later..... and after cleaning out the fridge the night before, we were quickly given the all clear.

We also stopped ay the head of the Bight, the scenery was breathtaking and we took advantage of the photo opportunities...

By 4:30 we had reached Ceduna. After tossing up over a few caravan parks we ended up at Shelley Beach Caravan Park, about 4kms out of town, and set on Decres Bay.
It wasn't long before the kids had a couple of  new friends and Richard had endeared himself to the caravan park owners. Before long we were invited to a BBQ at the Park owner's house.

It was a lovely night with lovely people and great conversation about the local fishing scene etc. Anna & Brownie have two children, Sharni and Jackson... they too travelled around Oz before kids and had many stories to tell. They also had friends over, including another couple from Perth.
When the conversation turned to politics, around 12:30 SA time, we all knew it was time for bed :-).

We woke late this morning, still not used to the time change and after a night of going back and forth to check that the annex hadn't been snapped in half by the galeforce winds and torrential rain.
I have a feeling Cyclone Iggy is following us, keeping that tinny on the roof and the boys fishing
escapades at bay, for the moment.
After brekky we went for a drive through Ceduna, very quiet on a Sunday, and then took a 40km trek to Smokey Bay hoping to buy some fresh Oysters. No luck though, everyone has today off, or so it seems. We are planning on staying here for a couple of days in the hope that Iggy passes us.
