Yesterday morning was going to be our big day of fishing at Starvation Bay, with plans to take the tinny out and try our luck.
The weather forecast was predicting that winds would die down but when we woke to rain & howling wind, we knew it was time to pack up and head towards that long desert road.
Plus our neighbour - grabbing our shovel to kill a baby dugite the night before - wasn't giving me too many reasons to hang around, I figured the mummy dugite couldn't be too far away. With tiger snakes and dugites, I was ready to get the hell outta there. 4 snakes in two days!!! Enough now!
Richard and I went for a walk to take in the beautiful scenery one last time we and then said farewell to our fellow cattle farming neighbours and hit the road.
Our first stop was Grass Patch, it quite simply was as small as a patch of grass. A tavern, a post office, a blink and gone.
Sharon the local publican was lovely and happy to have someone to chat to.
The next stop was Norseman to stock up at the IGA and to fuel up.
The town was a sleepy hollow and when Richard went to the pub to get a carton of beer and had to order through metal bars, we knew this wasn't where we wanted to stop for the night.

So hit the road we did, and we ended up at the most amazing place called Fraser Range Station.
The original Nullabor station. It's surrounded by a scenic range of granite hills and the world's largest eucalyptus hardwood forest and the architecture was amazing. There were coffee rock cottages and old equipment from yesteryear on display throughout the caravan park and it was nice to have a long hot shower, wash our hair and put some washing on, after having to use our water wisely for a few days.

The Station is also home to hole 13 of the Nullabor Links Golf Course, the world's longest golf course.
This morning after brekky and saying goodbye to Ian, we were back on track.
Balladonia was our first stop to look at the museum and show the kids the biggest piece of Skylab, still in tact.
After that, it was the same tree after the same bush for kilometres on end, the odd town broke up the monotony but not as much as the trees spattered across the Nullabor, adorned with all sorts of decorations. There was the bras and undies tree, the teddy bear tree, the ribbon tree etc. It got us thinking about what we could adorn a tree with, I'll keep you posted or let us know if you come up with any ideas.
The kids also did some homework on wheels today in between tree decoration spotting.
After lunch in Cocklebiddy we continued on to Eucla... tomorrow morning it'll be cleaning out the fridge of fruit and veg before we cross the border into South Australa.
