Daylight saving ended on the east coast so it was really a quarter to 8 ... Early birds for a Sunday morning.
We packed up our hotel room - destination - Cradle Mountain.
So back on that winding road up and out and down and around hillsides we went.
It dawned on me while we were driving why people over here look at us like we have two heads when we tell them we drive 1400 kilometers to Exmouth in about 15 hours. Over here 1400 kilometers would take 3 days with all of these twists and turns. Our long straight flat roads make our journeys so much faster. We drove high into the mountains stopping at a lookout along the way...

We also visited Queenstown, a fairly big copper mining town. A week earlier and we would have seen the town covered in snow..

I also had to take a picture of this house, painted in Collingwood Colours with a Collingwood dressed statue on the front doorstep. We were scared to knock - I could only imagine what was living
inside ;-)...

We then took a bus trip up to cradle mountain where the kids got excited about seeing dots of snow on the mountain...

We took one of the many walking paths which meandered through the National Park seeing a wombat and her baby, our first in the wild...

The whole area caters really well to walkers with overnight, day, half day and short walks.
We took a short walk before being picked up by a shuttle bus and taken back down the mountain.

On the way back to Burnie we stopped for lunch in a town called Waratah, one of the tidiest and neatest towns I have ever been to.
It looked like the entire town had freshly mowed lawn and right in the middle of town was an amazing waterfall....

Another half an hour drive and we were back at the caravan park.
Richard set about fixing the annex after Friday's storm while I put some washing on and mopped up the mud in the caravan which had been setting all weekend after we fled in the storm a few days earlier.
All good - we decided to drop in unannounced on Kath and Kim aka Lloyd & Gazza who were in a caravan park up the road.
After a drink with them, I now have an award winning sitcom series written, they are funny guys.
It was an early dinner and bed before we head further west along the north coast.
