On the way out of Derby, Richard had a brainwave.... To get my Dad & Mum up to Broome for the weekend. So before anyone had time to digest it... Richard had them booked on the first flight to Broome the next morning. It meant that our original plans to pass through Broome quickly would change but we were all excited to be seeing them. The kids were especially excited to be seeing their Nanna and Nonno.
We arrived in Broome and set up camp at Cable Beach Caravan Park. The kids were in the pool before we'd even reversed into our site.
We went for a drive around town and managed to get ourselves bogged in the car on Cable Beach, before we headed back to the caravan park for another swim and an early dinner.
I was amazed at how much Broome had grown since I was last here, about 11 years ago.
Saturday the 24th of November... We were up and off to the airport to pick up Mum & Dad (aka Phil & Rosetta or Nanna & Nonno)
Nina and Harry had again busied themselves with a welcome banner for them...
Before long Mum & Dad walked through the arrivals door and there were hugs & kisses for all.
We then went to Cable Beach where Mum & Dad saw our caravan for the first time and we all had a swim in the caravan park pool. Although we have caught up during the year it's always been without the van.
We then headed to the local pub for lunch, where the boys took up with the TAB for the afternoon. After lunch Mum, Harry, Nina and I went to get the keys to the room at Cable Beach and from there we spent a lazy afternoon in the pool where the boys eventually joined us. The evening was across the road from cable Beach at a restaurant called Zander's. It was so nice to be with Mum and Dad given that a day earlier it wasn't even in anyone's plans.
Sunday the 25th of November, the kids were up early and off to wake up their Nanna and Nonno. They walked across to Cable Beach and then they all went to the airport to pick up Leon and his girlfriend Lauren and her little girl Charli.
They were planning to surprise us with their arrival, except Leon had let the cat out of the bag the night before on the phone to me.
Richard and I met them all at brekky... Again, it was so nice to be catching up so unexpectedly....

After brekky the rest of the day was spent in or around the pool. It was perfect!

We met a few people we knew in the pool like Betsy, who I knew through my GWN days and Paula Hudson through my days at Nine... We chatted and played with the kids and chatted some more, all afternoon.
Dinner was at the sunset bar, watching a Broome sunset.
While the kids busied themselves making their creations on the beach...
